KITV’S MOANI NABARRO SUPPORTS HAWAII DESIGNERS

KITV’s Moani Nabarro supports Hawaii Designers

In honor of Hawaii Fashion Month, KITV’s main weather anchor Moani Nabarro has been showcasing Hawaii designers throughout October. We worked with stylist Jade Rabut to put together Moani’s on-air looks using locally designed clothing and jewelry.

We caught up with Moani and Ari South (above right) during one of the KITV “Style Local” segments to snap a few pictures and get Moani’s thoughts on her role as a “fashion ambassador.” Click here for the KITV video.

Style
“I consider myself an old soul, so I absolutely love vintage looks.”

Local Talent
“It’s hard to pick a [favorite look] because I adore so many.  I absolutely love Maia Hawaii’s resort inspired line.Sonya Monique‘s jewelry line is stunning. Randy Leano is a genius and how could you leave out Ari South?”

Designer Spotlight
“We’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback from our viewers. They love the fact that we are shining the spotlight on designers who are from our own backyard. I’ve been a hula dancer for almost half my life and, in a way, I believe this helps sharpen my appreciation for the expression and artistry designers invest into their creations. I love my homeland and make it my mission to cherish and support the precious gifts we have here, and fashion is one of them!”

Fashion Community
“The local fashion community has quickly grown and thrived in just a few years!  I have been very impressed with the work brought on by emerging and established talents and business entrepreneurs. Everyone is just brewing with dreams and ideas! I do imagine Hawaii as another fashion capitol. It is a mecca of Asian and Pacific inspired fashion with a push for modern innovation and high art. I have no doubt that Hawaii will someday be recognized throughout the global fashion community.”

Stylist Jade Rabut knows a thing or two about the up and coming Hawaii fashion scene, as well as knowing how to make someone look their best. In choosing looks for Moani, Jade sought out pieces that were unique, modern, and fun, while still being professional and camera-ready. See more of Jade on instagram and facebook.

Top Styling Tips by Jade:
1.  Always dress for your body type. Choose pieces that flatter your body or enhance your best features.
2.  For all those petite fashionistas, know a good tailor or learn basic sewing.
3.  Finally, always dress with a smile and confidence! That never goes out of fashion.
